ECE R90 for brake discs

The quality standard for greater safety

The quality standard for greater safety

Tested OE quality

This has always been a matter of course for us. As an original equipment supplier to the major car manufacturers, we only use the latest OE materials for the ATE brake discs we provide for the aftermarket, and we manufacture them in comparable OE quality. The ECE approval mark now officially confirms our compliance with this high standard.

ATE is leading the way

ATE brake discs made by the technology company Continental already fulfil the technical requirements of ECE Regulation 90.

In November 2016, when the European quality standard for brake discs came into effect, some 90 percent of all brake discs sold by ATE had the ECE approval mark. This percentage will rise much higher by early 2017.

Continental is thus one of the first companies in the industry to offer a comprehensive range of ECE-approved brake discs.

ECE Regulation 90

ECE Regulation R90

This regulation implements consistent standards in the independent aftermarket, so customers can be sure that the products are of OE quality.

ECE R90 has been in effect for aftermarket brake pads since 1999. In November 2016, it was extended to include brake discs for newly registered models, and the minimum requirements became stricter.

Thus customers know that they are getting OE-quality products

Another advantage of the ECE mark is that it supersedes the General Operating Permit that was required in most cases for aftermarket products. Motorists thus no longer need to keep a copy of the permit with them.

ECE R90: Tested OE quality
for greater safety

In November 2016, ECE Regulation 90, which already applied to brake pads, also came into effect for brake discs in newly registered models.

ATE welcomes this development because customers can now be sure of having OE-quality products.

As ATE meets this requirement anyway, almost all ATE brake discs already have ECE R90 certification. Continental is thus one of the first companies in the industry to offer a comprehensive range of ECE-approved brake discs.
