Tips for driving during the winter season

Winter is here, that means beautiful snowy landscapes, trips with family and friends and so many things to do to enjoy the season. But for drivers it also means roads filled with snow, ice, sleet and freezing rain. That’s why it’s important for you to know how to use your brakes effectively.

Here are some tips you may want to follow for a safe driving during the winter.

  • Drive Slowly: driving too fast can cause you to skid or slide and lose control of your vehicle. The faster you drive the longer it takes to stop your car.
  • Don’t Tailgate: Maintain an appropriate distance with other cars. This will give you more time to react to a situation in front of you and it will prevent you from pressing the brake pedal constantly.
  • Slow down gradually: When you are approaching a stop sign or an intersection, slow down gradually. Stop accelerating as soon as you notice that you will have to stop. This will keep you from using your brake as much and allow for a safer stop. stop.
  • Don’t slam your brakes: If you feel that you are getting in a dangerous situation, gradually let off the accelerator, don’t slam on your brakes. This will help you maintain control of the vehicle.

During winter season it is important that you and your vehicle are prepared to hit the road. Make sure that brake maintenance is on the top of your list for vehicle service.
