QLT - Oil level sensors

Continental Automotive Systems has been providing the automotive industry and their suppliers with oil condition sensors since 1996

QLT stands for Quality Level and Temperature. Regular measuring of the oil condition in combination with the requirements defined by the engine allows an optimal definition of oil change intervals. This saves costs and protects the engine from damage.


Description

The dielectric constant measured with a capacitor can deliver direct information about the quality of the engine oil. Another capacitor records the oil level. The oil temperature is measured with a precise PT 1000 element. The measured values are transmitted as PWM (Pulse-Width-Modulated) signals or via other interface standards such as BSD and LIN.
